Running Away on Wendnesday.

Anna and I are at battle. Over cereal. This morning before the battle started (she only wants Captain Crunch, and we only had Life)she sat on my lap and I was hugging her while we had this conversation:
Anna: Mommy, Anna is going to run away.
Me: You are? Why?
Anna: Because Mommy gets angry with Anna.
Me: I do?
Anna: Yes, because Anna said cereal is yucky. Anna needs to run away.
Me: When are you going to run away?
Anna: On Wednesday. (silence...) Mommy, what day is today?
Me: Friday.
Anna: Ok, I wait till Wednesday then.
Me: Sounds good.
Anna: I'm going to run away with Emma too.
Me: You are? You're taking Emma too? I'll be so sad! I'll miss you both so much!
(some more silence and thinking...)
Anna: But Anna has a problem, Emma's chair is to heavy! Anna cannot carry it! (Pointing at the car seat).
Me: That's true, it is heavy!
Anna: Anna needs to get stronger to carry Emma's chair?
Me: Yes you do! And you know how you get stronger?
Anna: How Mommy?
Me: By eating your cereal.

Bad Day = Birthday Brownies

No, it isn't her birthday until May. Anna had her very first experience with a bad day. Nothing was going right, her day was really hard. It was just one of those mornings that stretched out into a bad afternoon. Even preschool didn't cheer her up. On our drive home from school Anna tells me she is having a bad day, "mommy, I NEED a birthday cake, pleeeeeaaase!" So we made birthday brownies instead. And we put all the candles we could find in the house on the cake. And we sang and took pictures. After all, it's never too early to teach a girl that chocolate is her best friend when things go bad.

After all that bad day birthday party fun, she just crashed. I love this picture! :)

Talking about crashing... Emma has come down with RSV. No fun at all. She can't breathe most of the time, this is the only way she'll sleep lately. Poor baby. So if we disappear for the next 14 days that is why. Too bad I can't give her any chocolate... :(

We miss this version of you, Emma baby!

Introductions

Today I went to the Social Security office to get Emma a card, since the hospital in Michigan never really submitted for one when she was born. If you've ever been there you know, long lines.... we were number 123, they were calling 104... sigh.

Mommy tries to keep Anna busy and prays that Emma stays asleep.

In comes another mommy with her little girl, and they sit right next to us! Hooray! A buddy!

Anna in her talkative mood says:
Hi, I'm Anna!
Little girl: No, I'm Anna!
Anna: No, I'm Anna!
(Moms look at each other wondering, and finally figure out they are both called Anna!)
Anna continues with her introductions:
Anna: This is my friend Bunny, this is my friend Bear.
Little girl a bit frightened by Anna's friendliness: Mommy!
Anna pointing at me: And this is my friend, Mommy!

I smile. I love being her friend!

Little Blessings

Aren't these the cutest girls you've ever seen? Today after all our running around on errands I took Anna and Emma to feed the ducks in a pond near by our house. Anna was so excited with a bag full of bread (I save the ends of the bags for the ducks), and we headed down. Emma could care less, she was asleep in the stroller. Nothing disturbs this kid when she's tired. As we were feeding the ducks all of a sudden the 4 or 5 became almost 30, and these four very large geese made their way right up to us. They were frightening! They were taller than Anna, and they would hiss at us! As I got in front of them to block Anna, she says to Emma (who was still sleeping): Don't worry Emma, I'll protect you! I'll keep you safe! What a sweet big sister she is. It made me so proud of her! I hope they stay this close always.
