Walking for Madi

Dear friends,

I'm sending this message out to share with you something that has become very important to our youngest daughter, Emma.

Emma made a new BFF called Madi Price.  She couldn't stop talking about Madi Price!  For a while I thought she was a friend Emma made up, but soon found out they go to the same preschool.  Emma and Madi (who Emma insists on calling "Madi Price" at all times) became buddies.

After a play date at Madi's house, Emma was curious about why Madi Price needs to get a shot all the time.  Shots hurt!  It's not fun seeing your buddy hurt!  We found out Madi has Type 1 Diabetes.  Lots of shots are just part of this cute 4 year old's life.

When Emma asked me what she could do to make Madi Price feel better I felt powerless.  There's not much we can do to help Madi feel better right now, but as soon as we found out about the 2012 Walk to Cure Diabetes happening in our area I explained it to Emma.  She wants to walk.  Emma and I are joining Madi Price's family and friends this weekend to walk a 5k.

We are trying to raise a very small amount, Emma and I.  We have a goal of $150.  If you could please take the time to go to our team's website and donate any little bit, it would mean the world to Emma, who really wants to be proactive about helping her friend find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

If you'd like to know more about what it's like for Madi and her family as they deal with Type 1 (Madi's older brother Craig was also diagnosed), please check out their blog:  http://craigandmadi.blogspot.com/

Thank you so much for helping me teach Emma what a positive thing it is to get involved and help those around you.
